  • POSITION PURPOSE

    • Under the supervision of a Radiologist, operates scanning and auxiliary equipment in order to perform all diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with department and hospital policies. Prepares and administers oral and intravenous radiopharmaceuticals.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

    • Bachelors or Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology preferred

  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • 6 months - 1 year

  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B.) certification or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, Nuclear Medicine (A.R.R.T.- N.M.) certification required.

    • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Six to twelve (6-12) months of experience preferred.

    • Working knowledge of clerical procedures as they relate to scheduling, record maintenance and patient preparations.

  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Operates all nuclear medicine equipment. Has the ability to troubleshoot nuclear medicine equipment, has the ability to position counter-balanced cameras with an approximate weight of 2000 pounds.

    • Has the ability to access, enter and retrieve information for hospital-wide, departmental and camera computer systems.

    • Processes and maintains standards of general quality control for all nuclear medicine films, performs appropriate record-keeping functions.

    • Ability to schedule appointments, provide patient instructions, answer inquiries clearly, educate the patient and family regarding procedures.

    • Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department.

    • Administers medications in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure.
