Decontamination Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE

• Prepares, processes, maintains and distributes surgical instrumentation and equipment to medical personnel in designated areas of the hospital for the delivery of medical care to our patients.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

• High School or Equivalent (GED)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Entry Level

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• 1. Performs soiled collection of reusable contaminated surgical instrumentation, clinical patient care equipment and other items.
  2. Performs the decontamination of contaminated patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation.
  3. Performs the preparation, packaging and terminal sterilization of surgical instrumentation and special procedure trays.
  4. Operates and monitors all reprocessing and sterilization equipment.
  5. Performs quality assurance performance monitoring of the in-house sterilization process.
