Jockey is seeking a Senior Tech Designer, Men’s Innerwear, to join our Design team!

The Senior Tech Designer, Men’s Innerwear, executes all assigned categories of tech design with high-level expertise product focus. This position is responsible for building innerwear from concept to production, ensuring product is within Block Fit & Standards framework. This role will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure high quality of fit and quality excellence.

This position will be located at our corporate headquarters in Kenosha, WI (between Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI area).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the technical garment development for each seasonal delivery.
  • Lead fit sessions on live models and determine necessary fit adjustments to achieve desired base fit of garments.
  • Collaborate with designers on fit direction and drive fit platform standards.
  • Compile documents of garment specs, fit corrections, pattern analysis, measurements, and construction comments to makers through Adobe Illustrator and PLM system.
  • Establish blocks, specs, and grading recommendations on new style developments.
  • Build relationships with makers to understand and support their technical capabilities.
  • Analyze and evaluate garment construction to ensure global compliance of specs and construction are to Jockey’s standards.
  • Conduct wear tests to ensure the garment wearability and product performance.
  • Ensure timelines are met for all sample milestones. Track and manage workflow and workload by product category, gather information, and update all reports necessary for status meetings.
  • Research, analyze, and conduct competitive deep-dive fittings providing learnings and recommendations at style/category level on fit, sizing, and construction.
  • Identify potential production, quality, and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.
  • Partner with the Materials and Product Development teams to understand fabric and trim properties and timelines for new development garments.
  • Collaborate with other teams to set standards on most efficient construction methods, work processes, and best practices.
  • Organize and maintain all fit model requirements, fit session content, results, and fit photo library to document fit history.
  • Foster an open communication and team environment with all business partners.
  • Stay updated on advancements in tech design software and tools, effectively utilizing them to enhance the tech design process and workflow.
  • Impart expert-level technical design knowledge on the team.
  • Mentor Assistant and Associate Tech Designers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of proven applied experience in pattern making, grading, and construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical design or related field required.
  • Expertise in understanding of physical fit – evaluation of body size, shape, and the relationship of clothing on the target body.
  • Proficient in garment construction, pattern making, and technical design processes specific to innerwear.
  • Expertise in different fabrics and materials used in innerwear, including their properties and suitability for specific garment constructions.
  • Effective communication skills with cross-functional teams, including designers, product developers, and suppliers.
  • Understanding of the comfort and support requirements for different types of innerwear.
  • Expert working knowledge of sewing techniques, stitch properties, and overall garment detail.
  • Deep knowledge of garment fit and ability to articulate fit change recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of a computerized pattern making system, Gerber Accumark a plus.
  • Elevated sense of style and aesthetic.
  • Problem solver with the ability to anticipate challenges and provide solutions.
  • Detail oriented with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Solid working knowledge of PLM system.
