ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT SENIOR
DIGITAL EVIDENCE, SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

The Administrative Assistant Senior – Digital Evidence assignment works under the direction of the Captain of Administration to support the department’s digital evidence, including being accountable for the care, custody, control and processing of District Attorney Office and open record requests for body-worn cameras, squad cameras, and other digital media.  The incumbent in this position must possess strong technical abilities, ability to manage sensitive information, and work intricately with other agencies such as Joint Services, the District Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies.

2025 Hiring Range:  $21.82 - $24.79 per hour

Position Summary and Job Duties

  • Manage, facilitate, and store all agency video and audio recordings within the agency management system
  • Ensure that the collection, uploading, and storage of video and audio evidence are completed accurately
  • Research, compile, and release all case-related body camera video and audio to the District Attorney's Office for discovery purposes
  • Review, analyze, and process open records requests and court subpoenas for relevant body-worn camera footage, handheld camera recordings, and other digital media, as well as related documents and data records
  • Respond to public records requests in accordance with the Wisconsin Open Records Act, following relevant regulations and departmental policies; make necessary redactions before releasing information
  • Search, compile, analyze, and redact video/audio and documents to ensure the Office's electronic open records procedures, processes, and documentation are current and accurate
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to video and audio redaction, software, tools, and practices; implement improvements for more efficient and accurate processes
  • Understand and follow complex written and oral instructions while applying the proper policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information obtained or reviewed
  • Provide exceptional and timely customer support, emphasizing excellent oral and written communication with requestors and staff
  • Compile data for monthly and annual reports on video evidence held, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and established goals and objectives
  • Stay informed about current technical advances, industry changes, and best practices; participate in the operations of other law-related information technology services as required
  • Represent the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department in a professional manner
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Success Factors

  • Knowledge and training in audio/video software equipment editing and redacting or ability to learn specialized department computerized software applications
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain a high level of integrity and with sensitive intelligence
  • Ability to organize self and workload to meet schedules and deadlines of the work; work independently and with limited oversight to meet deadlines; follow oral and written instructions; and perform highly detailed work within defined or ambiguous timeframes amidst shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Skill in communicating clearly, concisely, and respectfully, both orally, in writing, and interpersonally, with law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and the public
  • Skill in using standard computer operating systems and software (Adobe Acrobat/Reader, Windows, Microsoft Office software)

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous work experience in a secretarial or similar position
  • Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Administrative, Office, Clerical field
  • Work experience in a municipal setting
  • Experience using Civil Serve Database
  • Experience using New World Database
  • Ability to become a notary public
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English – pay differential available

Other Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Possess a qualifying background
  • Ability to work standard work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; and
  • Ability to work overtime and/or adjust starting/ending times when needed, with or without advance notice
