Job Summary:

The VP of Retail Sales will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to align on key strategies and efforts for the promotion and sale of company products and services to grocery retailers in Natural, Conventional, and Mass channels.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement go to market strategies for retail business to help grow our retail business and hit revenue targets
  • Be accountable for team and departmental goals
  • Manage, motivate, and mentor the retail sales team to achieve workplace goals
  • Team up with leadership and human resources to develop a sales training program
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire sales staff for retail business
  • Manage the retail sales budget and forecast
  • Analyze the business and develop a sales strategy for growth for collaboration with the SVP and Marketing team
  • Make sound financial decisions including decisions related to promotional spending, slotting, and selling expenses
  • Identify competitive opportunities and risks within the market and put the plans together to capitalize on opportunities
  • Identify areas of opportunity and develop success driven plans
  • Manage detailed sales expectations and plan accordingly
  • Organize and maintain sales operations
  • Work closely with the marketing department to support merchandising guidelines by making sure Good Foods products are merchandised and priced properly
  • Report to leadership within the business with information concerning market conditions, competitive situations, industry and customer updates, sales tracking, alignment on key strategies, efforts, and guidance on other related topics
  • Improve customer satisfaction by anticipating consumer needs
  • Monitor customer activity
  • Communicate and foster relationships with clients
  • Create sales reports
  • Participate in leadership activities as requested.
  • Comply with all Company rules, regulations, and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications and Additional Skills:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s degree in food and beverage or related industry experience preferred
  • 10 plus years of experience as a food & beverage leader
  • Valid Driver’s license required and insurable by Good Foods Group insurance company
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business and multi-functional teams, developing strong business relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate relationships with customers
  • Experience in a wide range of food and beverage environments, including Natural, Conventional, Mass, and National Accounts
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications with proficiency in MS Excel
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and exhibit attention to detail
  • Able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Can work independently and with a team within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate and promote teamwork on a consistent basis

Travel:

  • This position will require travel, up to 60% of the time.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment
  • Offices with equipment noise
  • Offices with frequent interruptions
  • Mostly indoor office environment with windows
  • If in the plant, required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’s) processes

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to communicate information accurately to others
  • Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information
  • Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time
  • Able to move throughout workspace frequently
  • Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen
  • Frequently operates computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Able to move up to 20lbs. occasionally
