The Kenosha County Parks Division is accepting applications for a Special Events Coordinator for the 2024 season.

The mission of the Kenosha County Parks Division is to provide accessible, diverse venues throughout the County that encourage the pursuit of healthy, recreational, and educational outdoor activities while promoting the preservation of our community’s natural resources.  The Parks Division collaborates with partners to optimize the benefits of developing and maintaining a robust, regionally recognized park system.

The Special Events Coordinator will work alongside the Development Coordinator with the management, planning, and execution of 70+ agency events per year, including weekly recreation programs and special events for the Kenosha County Parks.  A strong and determined work ethic is expected.

2024 Hiring Range:  $16.00 to $20.00 per hour

Hiring Bonus

A Kenosha County seasonal Park candidate who is successfully hired and employed for at least 30 days shall be awarded a $200.00 bonus to their paycheck.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new recreational programs within the park system
  • Coordinate and facilitate existing programs
  • Manage event logistics and post-event synopsis reports
  • Act as a liaison during special events for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with securing sponsorship and partnerships
  • Take photos at special events
  • Track attendance at special events and update databases accordingly
  • Answer e-mails and phone calls in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop and maintain social media branding campaigns
  • Assist during recreation
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS, TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience in coordinating special events preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old at time of application
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and maintain during incumbency, with acceptable driving record

Kenosha County participates in the FICA Alternative Retirement Program.  Seasonal employees are automatically enrolled in this program if they do not meet eligibility criteria for the Wisconsin Retirement System (pension).  The FICA Alternative plan replaces the payment of FICA tax and instead contributes a percentage of pre-tax wages into an investment account for the benefit of the employee.
