SUMMARY-DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY 

Under the supervision of the Department Manager, Machinists support the company’s goals to be the world leader in high speed spindle manufacture, service and support.

In addition to the technical skills and productivity requirements, all employees must maintain a high level of integrity, team cooperation, and support of company policies, procedures, and goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program, Set-up and operate precision CNC ID grinding equipment.

  • Select tools, speeds / feeds, and work holding devices to achieve safe operation and the desired quality and productivity.
  • Read and understand prints or drawings defining required dimensions and tolerances. Utilize shop math, metric measurement and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing knowledge to interpret data.
  • Utilize inspection equipment, including gages, micrometers, calipers, air gages, gage blocks, form measuring, or CMM devices, to ensure accurate parts are produced with the specified tolerances. Diagnose and rectify any machine, tooling, or other issues affecting quality or production. Notify and involve lead person, supervisors, or inspectors as necessary.
  • Maintain machines and equipment following standard preventative maintenance, cleaning, and calibration techniques.
  • Identify needed tooling to perform the various operations to the required dimensions. Monitor and adjust as necessary to achieve the desired quality and productivity.
  • Work safely, following all safety guidelines and utilizing prescribed safety equipment. Notifying management of any safety concerns.
  • Actively and effectively supports company goals and objectives, and promotes an atmosphere of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Prepares and maintains required procedures, reports, job data, and other documentation to support production planning, quality and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Vocational or apprenticeship training in machining (turning, milling, grinding).
  • Efficient working knowledge of shop math and blue print reading (including GD&T).
  • Understanding and ability to utilize metric measuring methods and techniques.
  • Preferred 3 to 5 years’ experience in setup and operation of precision CNC machine tools.

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Good oral and written communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Working knowledge and skill in utilizing basic computer software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift, carry & maneuver up 50 pounds frequently, and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
